Together with the Olvera Castle, the neighborhood of La Villa formed the Arab almedina in times of the frontier. This is drawn from the irregularities of the terrain, forming narrow and winding streets, houses at different levels and albarradillas. The most obvious traces of the Arab past can be found in the Torre del Pan, an old Muslim construction that functioned as a bakery, or the Torre de los Olivillos.
