Los Meleros is an old and charming Andalusian farm located next to the road and completely private, a kilometer and a half from Olvera, the head town of the White Villages, in the Sierra de Cádiz.
The house has been restored following high quality standards, while preserving the essence of a country house between trails. The garden has numerous fruit trees, herbs, flowers and a swimming pool. There are a large number of birds such as hoopoe, golden ories, eagles and nightingales, who sing wonderful melodies at night.
The owners cultivate the land while taking care of their own, together with Los Meleros, so they are always available to help or advise. They also have studios for the creation of ceramic and fused glass, and a small gallery that can be visited by appointment.
Design of the house
Access to the house is through a large terrace with flowers, herbs and shrubs, with space for relaxation. This is ideal for gathering and eating outside, being partially covered, and with vines that provide complete shade in the summer. It also has a barbecue area with easy access to the kitchen and the rest of the facilities.
Through the front door from the terrace you reach the central part of the house, open plan, which includes a living room with comfortable seating and a wood stove, a kitchen and a large dining room.
There is a large utility room next to this area for food preparation and storage, complete with a sink, fridge / freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher.
Outside of the open central area there is an additional study that doubles as a fourth bedroom. This has a single bed and an additional trundle bed, so it can sleep another two people comfortably, or it can be used as an "office" for visitors who need to maintain their business contacts.
Also, on the ground floor there is a bathroom with shower and toilet, a storage room for firewood and a changing area, with a door that leads directly to the rear terrace and the pool (8 x 4 meters with steps and a shallow side for kids).
The pool, with a large lawn area, is surrounded by bushes and roses, and is completely private, with plenty of hammocks / sun loungers, and sun and shade areas. The pool and lawn are fenced in and accessed through a gate, making it easy to supervise young children.
On the upper floor there are three other double bedrooms, one with a double bed and two with single beds. The double bedroom has direct access to a private bathroom with a toilet (which can be shared with the rest of the rooms if necessary, through another door leading to the landing). Although, there is another bathroom with a toilet on this floor.
There is central heating for the winter and ceiling fans in each room for those warm summer nights.
The property has a multitude of fruit trees and, depending on the time of year, guests can enjoy grapes, figs, plums and quinces.
Amenities and equipment
The kitchen equipment includes an induction hob and oven, kettle, microwave, toaster, juicer, manual and electric mixer, and all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware. There is also an iron and ironing board, hair dryer, crib and stroller for children, plus a highchair for the dining area.
All linens and towels are provided, including pool towels.
Sun loungers and umbrellas are also provided, and there is an outdoor shower next to the pool which, weather permitting, will be open from May to September or early October.
For autumn / winter there will be a large basket full of wooden logs upon arrival, with the possibility of acquiring additional logs at a minimal cost with the owners.
There is covered parking for up to two cars, plus plenty of additional space for parking.
The pool is cleaned in the middle of the week, first thing in the morning to avoid inconvenience. Similarly, the terraces and the garden will be watered two or three times a week, but once again first thing in the morning!
If you want the house to be cleaned during your stay, you can hire it.
A food shopping service can be organized, and must be requested before arrival with a list of requirements. However, a welcome pack of essentials is provided, free of charge, upon arrival.
Inside the house smoking is not allowed. Please respect this requirement.
